HUGGS Canada celebrated its 5th anniversary by hosting an Indian dinner and fundraiser on November 6, 2008, at Fraserview Hall in Vancouver. Over 130 friends of HUGGS gathered for the party, with Board director Harmeet Chhina acting as MC for the event. First, the Pehchaan Apni Nachdi Jandi Dancers kicked off the evening with an energetic and exciting display of Bhangra dancing, followed by a video about HUGGS and a speech by Board chair Marilyn Gullison. After dinner we were treated to a wonderful performance by classical Bharata Natyam dancer, Ishwarya Chaitanya.

A silent auction ran through the evening, with items donated by generous friends of HUGGS, as well as a 50/50 draw and door prizes for added interest. The warm decor in the room, the music and dance, the food, and the buzz of conversation all combined for a lively, fun evening
--a great way to celebrate 5 years of HUGGS, and attract new friends to the HUGGS community.
