Rising Star shines on local charity organization

North Vancouver, CANADA - April 5, 2006 – North Vancouver native Laila Biali to play at third annual Jazz benefit concert for HUGGS Canada.

Biali, double winner for Composer and Keyboardist of the Year at the 2005 National Jazz Awards, returns each year to donate her time and energy to the efforts of HUGGS. The 25 year-old artist has already performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including New York City’s Carnegie Hall, opening last year for a sold-out Diana Krall show at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Her original compositions, compelling vocals and warm charm have earned her the accolade of “rising star” from various jazz critics.
This year’s Third Annual HUGGS Jazz Benefit Concert is on June 2, 2006 at North Shore Alliance, North Vancouver. Doors open at 7PM, concert begins at 7:30PM. Tickets are $20 available through HUGGS: 604.980.9270 and the Flying Fish, 604.986.9842 (2nd Floor, Lonsdale Quay).
