On June
23rd 2005, Laila
Biali returned to the North Shore
Alliance Church to present her second
annual Evening
of Jazz Benefit Concert
for HUGGS CANADA. The audience of over
200 was mesmerized by the amazing jazz
performance of the Laila Biali Trio which
included Brandi Disterheft on acoustic
bass and Sly Juhas on drums.
Founder Lisa Heel welcomed her friend
Laila via live feed from Vizag, India,
and spoke to the guests about the HUGGS
students.
The evening was organized by the HUGGS
Special Events Volunteer Committee - enthusiastic
students from SFU, UBC and the Global
Stewardship program of Capilano College.
Elegant bouquets were donated by Flowers
by Olla and Hershey’s
Chocolates again provided lots of
“hugs and kisses” for the evening! |
To all
those whose efforts made the evening
so memorable, our gratitude!
Thank you, Laila, for being such a generous
and loving friend and for dedicating
one of your beautiful songs to the students
of HUGGS.
“The music
is delightful and her voice has such
depth of soul I was so moved by the
spirit of the music.”

the concert
